UK Advisory Committee Calls for Adoption of IFRS Sustainability Reporting Standards
Back in July, the Climate Change Committee released their Progress in Reducing Emissions 2024 Report to Parliament. In the report the CCC signalled that urgent action is required to get the UK back on track with its 2030 carbon emission reduction target; both solar and wind deployment are behind schedule.
Yesterday the UK Government released their responses to that report, including:Saying that that the action taken so far and the decisions the government is making mean it is acting or partially acting on all 35 of the CCC’s recommendations.
However, it will not accept the Climate Change Committee’s (CCC) recommendation that airport expansion projects should be halted.
The Government lists steps taken over last 5 months, including lifting the de facto onshore wind ban, launching Great British Energy and setting up the National Wealth Fund.
More reporting is likely to follow over the coming days as industry insiders analyse the full implications of the 100 page document.
